"Jar-Ball" Ceremony (Breast Extruding Ceremony)

Every July of Chinese Lunar Calendar is known as “Ghost Festival”. Ghost Festival considered as one of the great animism celebration of Chinese population. Chinese has different ways to celebrate the Ghost Festival according to different ethnics. One of the small ethnic of Chinese, known "Yi-Zhu, 彝族"(populated at the southern of China) , they have a quite exciting celebration way to celebrate the Ghost Festival. They call as Breast Extruding Ceremony.

What is Breast Extruding Ceremony? According to the Chinese Cultural Record Book, at the Ghost Festival, the Yi-Zhu will be having the praying, singing and dancing ceremony at the main street of their village. Such a ceremony is symbolizing happiness and freedom. The non-married/single youth also tend to find their life partner at that ceremony, the man can simply extrude the breasts of the girls, and the girls will no angry. The man who are success to extrude the breasts or the girls whose breast being extruded are symbolizing as good luck and fortune.

Why? According to their belief, they said that millions of their ancestors were sacrificed their life in the past war. Majority of their ancestors never having the "happiness experience" in "marry life". So, they will come back and catch the women at the Ghost Festival for the "happiness experience". However the ghost do not like the girls whose breasts being extruded before! This is the reason why they having the Breast Extruding Ceremony.

Nowadays, the Breast Extruding Ceremony is declared as one of the unique culture in Chinese Cultural Record Book and still is performing until today! Every year, millions of the tourists purposely visit the Yi-Zu ethnic village and join the Breast Extruding Ceremony!!

hei , guys!!! What are you waiting for?

wah!! see how beautiful for the Yi-Zhu Girl!!

1 Design but 3 varieties..

Sure you all know this is our new designation of RM50 banknote, however do you know that this designation exists in 3 varieties actually. The 1st and 2nd varieties issued at the year 2007 in order to commemorate our 50th Anniversary of Independence. It also is our 2rd commemorative banknotes in Malaysia money printing record so far ( The first commemorative banknote is Commonwealth Games 1998 http://nobitalam.blogspot.com/2009/08/malaysia-first-polymer-note.html.)

The different of 1st and 2nd series is their margin edge of the notes, the first is called "golden edge series" and latter called "silver edge series". The golden edge series only issued about 20000 pieces which are AA0000001-AA0020000, and silver edge series are start from AA0020001-AA5000000, which around 48000 pieces. Sure the golden edge series is much more higher in market price about RM250-300 and silver edge series around RM55-60.

However, the 3rd series is the circulation banknotes, its designation is similiar with the silver edge series, but without the 50th Independence Logo and "1957-2007" at the bottom of the notes. It is the different of commemorative notes with circulation notes. Nowadays, majority of countries also using such a way to issue the commemorative notes ( the design is the same with current or future circulation banknotes but only add on somethings like logo and make it slightly different), it is because the production cost in designation of new banknotes is great costly, that is no economy value if only issue the commemorative notes with 100% new design.

Golden Edge Series (Jul 2007)
Silver Edge Series (Jul 2007)

Circulated Series (Jul 2009)

They seem alike, but great differences actually..

Do you still remember these 2 pieces of RM20 denomination note? They may always be seen at your childhood? or you had forgotten them already? The RM20 denomination note had become a historical denomination note and do not come out yet in Malaysia money printing history.

However, do you have looked carefully for them? These 2 pcs of RM20 are seem alike but they are great different actually! The 1st series was circulated at the year 1982-1984 which signed by Gabenor Abdul Aziz and the latter was circulated within 1986-1987 which signed by Gabenor Jaafar' Hussein. The main differences of these 2 notes are the watermark, all the Malaya or Malaysia notes before 1986 were used the "tiger mark" as the note watermark. even before and after independence until 1986. Since 1986, the tiger watermark was replaced by the Agung Portrait Watermark and is using until nowadays. (However, note watermark only can be seen through the light, which cannot be shown in the diagram)

Another great difference among of them is the Agung Expression, look at it yourself! haha

However, I prefer the 1982-1984 series than 1986-1987, how about you?

Ali Abu Hassan (Side Signature) of RM50

If you are a Malaysian, sure you have seen and used this RM50 note before. However, something very surprising is, do you know that this note is selling with the shop retail price around RM350 -400 (even higher so far) for 100% new and original condition. In your mind, sure you will have the idea, "I still have a lot of these RM50 previous design notes, why not I sell cheaper even half lower to you?" No..no..it is totally different!!

Furthermore, you will think who so stupid rather to pay 7-8 times higher than the denomination value for it? Definitely is our dearest friend Mr NG XXX XXXXX.

What is so different for this notes? Why it is so costly?

Happy Birthday, Doraemoon!!

Today, 3 September is the birthday of my loving cartoon character, Doraemoon!!

Doraemon was the creation of comic artist F. Fujio Fujiko (whose real name was Hiroshi Fujimoto). Doraemon was first published as a comic in 1970 and continued to be drawn right up till the artist’s death in 1996.

Although there was a short-lived Domaemon TV anime aired in 1973, the current Doraemon TV anime was first aired in 1979 by Asahi TV. 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the show, which airs weekly and is said to be one of the longest running shows in Japan.

The first Doraemon movie, “Doraemon: Nobita no Kyoryu” (Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur) was released to Japanese theaters in 1980. A number of Doraemon movies have been made since then, the most recent being the 2009 “Doraemon: Nobita no Uchu Kaitakushi” (Doraemon: Nobita’s Space Development History). The next movie, “Doreamon: Nobita no Ningyo Daikaisen” (Doraemon: Nobita’s Great Mermaid War) is scheduled for release in Japan in March of 2010.

Question: Do you know that how old of Doraemoon at 2009?
